Kaş

Known for its unique bays and nature and home to unforgettable views, the Kaş-Kalkan region is one of the most preferred holiday destinations in Turkey in the last few years. Kaş is a unique destination for summer travels, where we love the surrounding villages, the center and the peninsula separately.

🏖 Kalkan and Kas is a holiday destination full of unspoiled bays that you can access via roadside swimming stops and boat trips.

Kaş, which is also home to an ancient city, is also very interesting culturally.

We have prepared a ‘good food guide’ by compiling the places we love and have experienced in Kaş, where we love the food and drink options as much as the natural beauties.

Zaika Ocakbaşı

If you still haven’t heard of Zaika Ocakbaşı, one of the must-haves of Kaş, now is the time to remedy this deficiency.

🥘 Zaika, which is over 10 years old, means “taste buds” in Persian. It is not a classic kebab shop; They come more from the Ocakbaşı culture, as they define themselves, and they care about it. Their cuisine has many influences from the Middle East, from Syria to Lebanon, Morocco to Hatay.

🥕 Using only seasonal vegetables, Zaika is a very successful restaurant when it comes to using healthy and high quality culinary products, which are the basic ingredients of good food.

🐮 For example, the meat is selected from free-range animals, the tomato paste comes from Urfa, the pure turnips from Mersin and the clarified butter from Elmalı. Zaika does not use any ingredients containing preservatives or flavorings in her kitchen.

🥙 We liked Lebanese Mütebbel, Kaya Koruk, Arzava Paste and Kuru Cacık as appetizers from the starters. Gavurdağı salads were also delicious.

🍖 In the restaurant whose Shashlik Kebab has become a legend, we recommend you to try the beef tenderloin marinated in a special sauce called Zaikas.

🎃 For dessert, you can order Crispy Pumpkin Dessert without thinking at all.

The hardest thing at Zaika, which has been serving in its new location on the Çukurbağ peninsula for a while, is finding a seat. Since they act with the mentality that “every customer is special”, they do not open additional tables for anyone and you can only find a place with a reservation. Unfortunately, these places can also fill up sometimes two months in advance. That’s why it is necessary to book a place when planning your vacation. They are closed on Tuesdays and only take reservations by phone.

Capra Çukurbağ

The happiness of meeting a talented chef whose work we have been following for years and tasting his delicious dishes at his table! ✨🤍🤤

👩🏻‍🍳 This summer we came together at the Capra Çukurbağ table where Chef Serra Beklen hosted her guests in private groups in the Çukurbağ village of Kaş. It was an evening we missed, accompanied by pleasant conversation and local flavors.

🍴Capra is a dining experience for groups of minimum 5 – maximum 10 people, prepared and served directly by the chef himself. One of the best options around Kas.

📝 The starters we tasted from the menu, which changes monthly to offer the freshest of the season, were quite surprising and delicious.

🥘 Starters: Artichoke & Veal Tongue, Roasted Vegetable ‘Cive’, Sea Bass Ceviche with Molasses.

🍤 Yelten Tarhana Bisk with Shrimp and Mussels served as an appetizer was one of the most interesting dishes we have tried in a long time.

🐟 You can choose lamb or fish for the main course from the tasting menu, we preferred fish.

🍫 For dessert, we tried a brownie prepared with carob flour. Our chef also prepared gluten-free versions of all the dishes for our gluten-intolerant friend.

🍷 For drinks, Capra also has a small menu. The menu consists of local wines and a selection of cocktails; Our choice was Likya Wineyards Narince and we were very satisfied with it.

🍽 If you are planning a trip to Kas as a group of friends or live nearby, consider a dinner experience at Capra. Please note that reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance;

Fidanka

The food and beverage options in Kalkan are quite limited and it is very likely that you will encounter overpriced and mediocre food. If you are looking for a good dinner in Kalkan, we have a suggestion for you: Fidanka!

🏨 One of the oldest boutique hotels in the region, Fidanka’s stone and wood building with various plants and antiques is one of the most beautiful parts of the stone and wood building, in our opinion, is the sea view restaurant where the sunset becomes extremely enjoyable.

🧑🏻‍🍳 Fidanka is one of the places with the best price and service performance in the region with its kitchen and menu revised by the famous chef Umut Karakuş last year.

🧀 Fidanka, which means ‘female sapling’ in Bulgarian, boasts of working with the same kitchen team for many years and bringing cheeses, tomato pastes, spices, sauces, pomegranate syrups, jams from Denizli, sooty meats and olive oils from Ayvalık, Kars, Izmir Menemen, Antakya and Antep. At the same time, they have a menu that supports local and small producers and respects nature.

🐶 When ordering your food, be sure to ask the service staff for their recommendations; They are very helpful. The restaurant is pet-friendly and reservations are a must before you arrive. They accept guests depending on the occupancy of the hotel and the restaurant area.

🍲 Our favorites from their menu were shrimp with saffron sauce and liver as the main course.

It was one of the best experiences for us in the Kaş-Kalkan region. If you’re ever in these parts, definitely give it a try.

Oxygen Pub and Marina

⛵️ One of our favorite places to spend time in Kaş is the marina. We can say that especially the sunset is extremely enjoyable. Every time we travel towards the Çukurbağ Peninsula, we sit on the grass and enjoy the view. Our meeting point here is Oxygen Pub

🍤 Oxygen Pub steals our hearts with its ambiance as well as the flavors on its menu. Burgers, shrimp tempura and cocktails are our favorites.

🥗The menu includes several types of salads, falafel, hotdogs & buffalowings, etc.

🎷 There is also live music on certain days. Don’t forget to check what days there are before you go.

🐶 Oxygen Pub is a pet-friendly place, you can easily come with your friends.

🏊🏻‍♂️ There is also a good choice of beaches around the marina for those who want to swim. For those who want to swim during the day: Akçagerme Beach, Kas Camping, the unmanaged Incebogaz beach directly opposite the marina or the Doria Hotel in the marina (paid entrance).

Don’t forget to stop by if you are ever in Kas.
